THE DRIVE

Noida to Nainital by road

Enter your Noida pickup and Nainital drop in the booking form to see the current Google Maps route distance and travel time. Source: Uttarakhand Tourism: Nainital travel information ↗

A common road corridor is Noida → Ghaziabad → Hapur → Moradabad → Rampur → Rudrapur → Haldwani → Kathgodam → Nainital. The approach reaches the Kumaon foothills around Haldwani and Kathgodam before climbing to Nainital. Your exact route can vary with the pickup address, live traffic, road diversions and weather.

  • The approach becomes hilly after the plains; allow for changing road and traffic conditions as you travel through the Kumaon foothills.
  • Share your hotel or exact locality in Nainital as the drop point. Mall Road has seasonal vehicle restrictions, and parking is limited in busy periods.
  • If you are planning to continue to Bhimtal, Sattal, Naukuchiatal or Kainchi Dham, include those stops in your itinerary before confirming the ride.

PLACE AND PAST

A short history of Nainital

Nainital takes its name from Naini Lake and Naina Devi Temple on the lake’s northern shore. The district’s history page describes a local tradition connecting the place with the eye of the goddess Sati; this is a religious legend, not a documented historical event.

The same district history records P. Barron’s visit in 1839, an early newspaper account in 1841, Nainital’s emergence as a popular hill resort by 1847, and the formation of its municipal board in 1850. In 1862, it became the summer seat of the North-Western Provinces. The colonial-era town grew around the lake, with Mallital and Tallital forming its two ends.
